Visiting Nannie & PawPaw

My parents kept Kate while David & I went to Cancun for our 5th Anniversary. Instead of me taking Kate to Austin, they decided to meet me in Dallas so we could take Kate to visit my Dad's parents. My uncle Bill ended up being there too! I met them there for lunch & a little play time.

Kate showed off all of her tricks & loved getting to play with the new ball they gave her. It was good to see you guys!

14 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 14 Weeks
Size of baby: 3 inches
Maternity Clothes: not yet!
Gender: I realized everytime I think about life with a new bab - picking out new bedding, bringing a baby home, etc. it's always a boy. hmm...who knows!
Movement: maybe next week?
Food Cravings: none this week
What I miss: my pants not being tight after dinner :) - I see a belly band very soon in my future!
Sleep: Much better! Still some weird dreams, but I don't have to get up anymore very often.
Symptoms: round ligament pain
Best Moment this week: HELLO 2nd Trimester! I'm so glad to see you!
What I am looking forward to: 5th Anniversary trip with my hubby!

Happy 18 Months, Kate!

Took me awhile to get this month's update up. I am DEEP in packing mode! At least I finally included some videos again!

We went in for Kate's 18 mo well check last week. Dr. McCrory said her growth was fantastic & was very entertained by her monkey sounds the whole time we were there (the room is decorated in them!). She was 28 lbs (90%) and 33.25 in (90%). I'm so thankful for my healthy girl! All of the videos are from her appointment. We had to wait 40 minutes! So, I was trying to keep her entertained!!

This month Kate...

--makes the surprised face like she used to when she was around 10 months old...I LOVE IT!

--says "bonk" when she bumps into things

--added the horse sound "naaay", monkey "eee eee eee", pig

--finally changed up to the real word. She used to say "muh" but finally says "up"

--anytime she is finished with something she says all done "nuh nuh" over and over & HAS to give it to me. She cannot just set it down. It's nice that she doesn't put things all over the floor, but it's difficult when I'm driving.

--started counting. She gets to 10 with some help. Maybe I can catch this on video. Sometimes she can get the entire thing, but when she gets confused, she just says six (ix) until you get there. I guess it's her favorite! "wahn" "too", 'tree" "fah" "fie" "ix" "sebe" "aaa" "ni" "ten!!!" She just did this out of no where! I didn't even know she knew how, but now she wants to do it all the time!

--LOTS of new words this month - chip, oh boy "ahh boy", all right "all ri", pretty "pre-ee", Toby (my parent's dog) "tobi", off, eyes, ears, mouth, nose, juice "doose" (I LOVE for her to say this, she purses her lips up like a kiss & says it!), love you "luh oo", monkey "munk-ee"

--she got "doose" for the first time this month. She usually just drinks water, but since she's been refusing to eat veggies lately, I started adding some V8 juice to her water. Don't know if it's helping, but it makes me feel better!

--teeth: has all 4 of her first set of molars - top & bottom

--also started saying some words totally correct by adding the end sound - milk, eat, etc.

--added saying wide "whyyy" on Deep & Wide. Says the "Eyes, and Ears, and Mouth & Nose" on Head & Shoulders

--Loves songs with motions - used to distract her often

--plays imagine much more

-- starting to put 2 words together. Usually the words start to get mixed up though - like she tried to say "bye bye daddy" and it came out "bye bye dee" even though she says them individually clearly. I can't wait for this to continue to grow. It is so fun to be around my nephew last week who was speaking in little sentences!

--plays this game everytime David comes home from work. He usually picks her up, then she pushes our faces together to make us kiss, then she kisses each of us individually. Sometimes she makes us kiss multiple times. We don't mind :)

--scowls at new people until she decides what to think about them. ALWAYS at men. New men are NOT her favorite people.

13 weeks

I also forgot to post my 13 week baby #2 update in the middle of all the chaos! Only 4 more days until I'm leaving for the beach (as long as this dumb "tropical depression" doesn't keep me in my room!)

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 13 Weeks
Size of baby: 3 inches
Maternity Clothes: still no maternity clothes yet. It is amazing how different my belly is from morning to night though. My pants are definitely tight at night. I got out the belly band yesterday, cause I'm SURE I'll need it after spending 4 days at an all-inclusive next week :)
Gender: David keeps telling me he KNOWS it's a girl - guess we'll find out soon enough!
Movement: Not yet - I can't wait though! A few of my friends who are pregnant right now with the 2nd said they started feeling "some" around 14-15 weeks. So, maybe soon???
Food Cravings: nope
What I miss: nothing much :) I really like being pregnant!
Sleep: Much better! Still some weird dreams, but I don't have to get up anymore very often.
Symptoms: still don't have complete energy back
Best Moment this week: starting to feel more like myself & hearing the heartbeat for the first time - it was CRAZY fast
What I am looking forward to: Official start to the 2nd trimester!

no Paci Bootcamp - Day 3

Well, I guess we were due for a tougher day after such an easy 2nd day!

Bedtime was AMAZING last night.
8:30 - in bed with NO CRYING!!!
cried once for just a few minutes around 10
SLEPT UNTIL 9:30! It was GREAT!

Naps
Ugh. Horrible.
I tried putting her down around 11:30 hoping to still get 2 naps out of her, just a little later & she just SCREAMED for 30 minutes. So, I got her up & decided to let her just take one.
1:45 - to bed
screaming, screaming, screaming
she was obviously not tired, so i got her up again
she played and played and played
4:05 - to bed
cried some
4:20 - asleep
5:00 - awake

The car is definitely difficult too since that's the other place she's used to it. We're making it though!

Father's Day

David had to lead worship the week of Father's Day so he was up super early. When he came back home, Kate gave him a card with his gifts in it...

Being in the middle of dropping her morning nap & being weaned from her paci - she was a MISERABLE child, so we grabbed a quick lunch after church & headed home for naps.

That evening, we went over to David's parents to celebrate with them.

I couldn't ask for better dad's in my life. Kate's, mine, & David's. We definitely have some amazing men.

No Paci Bootcamp - Day 2

Bed time
I decided to try starting a little earlier this time. For one, she was so tired from barely napping all day, but I figured maybe she'd get more sleep this way. Everyone told me the 2nd night would be the worst. Not for us!!!
8:05 - in bed
some fussing, not hard crying though
8:25 - head on pillow, fast asleep!
woke up once around 9:30 for about 5-10 min of crying
SLEPT UNTIL 8:15am!!!!!

She did have her first time of getting sleepy in the car. She begged & begged for it. But, we made it through!

Naps
no morning nap due to fun with friends :)
1:30 - laid down for her nap WITH NO CRYING AT ALL!!
slept for just over 2 hours!!!

She has asked for it all day though :( I feel so sad everytime she does.

Looks like we may be on the upswing!

No Paci Bootcamp - Day 1

Doesn't that sweet baby girl look so peaceful?

I wish I could've let her keep her pacifier until she was graduating from high school. But, apparently it's bad for their teeth & probably a little socially unacceptable.

So, because of many factors - 2nd birthday & new baby coming in December, moving, but most of all, we'll be moving her to a toddler bed soon & the idea of her being able to get out of bed everytime she was made about her paci forced me to do it!

So, last night was our first night. It was DEFINITELY not fun, but could've been worse. I gave her a pillow (since she'll be using one for her new big girl bed in a month) hoping it would give her something new to focus on. She cried for an hour. I was ok until she started yelling "momma! paci! momma! paci!" But, good thing David was here & I stayed strong. She woke up 2 times during the night that were very short though - maybe 5 minutes. Worst part of all in my opinion is she woke up an hour early. I REALLY hope that doesn't become a new norm.

Naps
Her first nap today started at 9:45.
10 minutes of crying - then a sleeping baby
this time i turned on some classical music very low. This always helped her when she was an infant if she couldn't settle down - figured it couldn't hurt to try!
45 minutes later - she woke up screaming
I went ahead and got her up hoping it would make for a better afternoon nap.

2nd nap - 3:00
music again
430 minutes of off & on crying
3:30 - finally asleep
4:00 - crying again. I hope she'll learn to put herself back to sleep eventually!
4:45 - threw blanket over the side. With no hope of going to sleep without that I went in to give it back to her. I attempted to rock her. She just kept pointing at the door yelling "go!"

So, barely any naps today. Maybe tonight will be better?

I sure hope so.

Sweet Baby #2l

When I went in for my first ultrasound, that was when I found out I was 16 days behind what I thought I was, so therefore the pictures we got of the baby weren't that great - mostly a smudge with the word "baby" next to it. Thus, the reason they never got posted.

Well, I got the greatest surprise! A friend of my mom's is a sonogram tech in Austin & she offered to do one for me while I was there! It was so great to see this little one again - especially now that I could see more of the body parts.

Here's a great profile pic. The little hand is in front of the face & you can see the top part of it's leg sticking up too.

This one is the little feet. The soles are pressed together.

Less than 10 weeks til we know what what this little one is! I can't wait!

She LOVES the water!

This little girl is LOVING spending time in the water this summer. She definitely enjoyed it last year, but it's a totally new ball game this time! I think she would stay in it all day if I would let her. Sprinkler's & her water table are great, but the pool is EXHAUSTING for me because she is a kamikaze! She does anything to throw herself into/under the water. NO FEAR!

Just wanted to share some recent pictures of her playing in the water. I haven't gotten any of her in the pool yet (you know, trying to keep her above water)...but hopefully I will soon!

Jackson came over to play last week while our realtor was over, so I decided to take them outside to play...and of course the water table HAD to be played with once she saw it. They loved dumping water on eachother.

Not my kid, but is he not the cutest ever??

Yesterday, at my mom & dad's house we got out the sprinkler & she was IN HEAVEN!!!

We stripped her down to take her inside & I couldn't pass this one up...

My mom brought out a bucket right before we went in to let her play in. She decided she'd rather just get in. We couldn't believe she fit!!!

As much as she loves it, I'm sure we'll have more water pictures soon!!!

11 weeks

Kate & I are visiting family in Austin (and having so much fun even though we miss Daddy or "Diddy"), so I'll be blogging about that soon, but wanted to keep record of the weeks...

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 11 Weeks

Maternity Clothes: Not yet...but I'm definitely not feeling a little "thicker" these days :) They say you show earlier with the 2nd...right?? right???
Gender: ??? Only 10 weeks til we find out now. Or maybe less...
Movement: Not yet - I can't wait though!
Food Cravings: yogurt this week
What I miss: Just feeling like myself
Sleep: Dreams & Potty breaks wake me up - oh yes, and my teething toddler ;-)
Symptoms: heartburn & lack of energy.
Best Moment this week: Didn't feel nauseated at all!
What I am looking forward to: continuing to get closer to that 2nd trimester mark.
