Such a big girl...

A couple weeks ago, David told me that when he had gone in to put Kate's pacifier in during her nap, she was up on all fours. I couldn't believe it, but sure enough later that day when I was doing the same thing, she was up on her hands and knees again!

It has become quite the common occurrence! I finally caught it with the camera. She spends lots of time practicing - and just started rocking back and forth a few days ago.

David encourages her to start crawling all the time...but I'm not in such a huge hurry to spend my days chasing her around! Even though she rolls both ways, she hasn't figured out that it could actually get her across the room yet, so I'm still enjoying being able to put her down and know she'll be there when I get back. I don't think it's going to be too much longer though!

This one's for you Dad...

When I was in high schook, my dad always took care of everything "car"/

Ever since I went to college, he always made sure I knew that it was time to get my car inspected or change the registration sticker (yes, I needed reminders even though it was on the windshield!).

When I got married I made sure David knew I did nothing "car". Even though I am married, Dad always made sure to point it out to us when it was time to renew one of our stickers.

Well, our registration sticker expired in March...OF 2008. That's right people. It had 03 in the upper left and 08 on the right.

It kind of became a joke...how long can we make it. Well, we aimed of a year...and we made it! Then, went 14 months...and 15....

Dad, you will be happy to know that as of last week, we updated our registration!

Kate's 1st Swim

Since Memorial Day is the start of summer, we decided it would be a perfect day to take Kate for her first swimming experience at Granddad & Mimi's!

She was ADORABLE as usual!

...everything goes in her mouth

5 Month Portraits

I took Kate today to get her portraits done. I'm a little over a week late getting them done this time... but here they are none the less (is that one word? nonetheless? or hyphenated? none-the-less?)

oh well ;)

They are just the proofs from the website, so it's just a small preview. When they actually come in (not for another two weeks...seriously?) I'll scan them in and give you a better view!

Well, Kate has a new little...

TOOTH!

During Worship Team share time, this is how my funny husband told everyone Kate had cut her first tooth!
I don't know if you can really see it, but it's that teeny little white line on the left side of her mouth. It finally broke through on Sunday night. Thank goodness baby girl's got such a big smile so I could catch a picture of it! We (and I mean we!) are going through all the hard parts of teething - night waking, endless drool, a little whining, but we'll live! I just gave her a little Tylenol & now she's as good as new - smiling as big as ever!
So far, it's just the one tooth. But, I'm pretty sure the one next to it is not far behind!
She's growing up so fast!

Splish, Splash

Kate has outgrown her baby bath, but isn't quite stable enough sitting to just be sat in the grown up bathtub...so we decided to give this seat a try.

She loved it! She loves being able to sit up & look around. It's supposed to suction to the bottom of the bathtub, but ours has a rough no-slip finish on it, so the kitchen sink had to do.

She was so intrigued, looking at the water, it was hard to get her to look up for a picture!

Not so sure...

We had made the decision to start Kate on rice cereal when she turned 5 months. We decided to give it a go on Sunday when Nana was here to help. When David watched, his only question was, "Is she actually supposed to swallow any of it?"

Um...yeah.

Each day gets a little better. I think she actually did swallow some today! She at least doesn't turn her head away from it & seems interested!

Happy 5 Months Kate!

This month Kate:

--learned to play in her jumperoo

--talks & babbles all the time - she makes even more new sounds including blowing raspberries, d's, g's, clicking her tongue

--found her thumb - still just chews, no sucking

--found her feet & LOVES to play with them

--has transitioned out of being completely swaddled. At this point, she only has her legs swaddled at night. Her naps are swaddle free. Hopefully, we'll completely kick that habit this week!

--which means she now sleeps on her tummy

--moves all around her crib during the night

--rolled over from back to front
--laughs even more
--can sit with little support - but I don't go far, since she still topples over easily when she gets distracted!

--loves to play peek-a-boo

--wishes she could crawl so bad! she swims her arms and legs, pulls her knees up, and works so hard, and it gets her nowhere!

--holds her toys & picks them up when she wants them

Daddy's Girl

Last night David was playing with Kate, and as he was doing this she began to squeal everytime he got close to her. At first I thought it was just a coinsidence, but he did it over and over and got the same reaction!

He's such a great dad...always wanting to be a part of what is going on with her & he absolutely loves playing with her. I am so thankful to have him as my partner in all of this!!

It was too cute, so I had to share.
