House Update - FINISHED!!!

Things on the inside are finished! Well, sort of I guess. They're doing touch ups & it's being cleaned, but for the most part things are all put together & ready for us! We've passed our gas inspection, so heat & hot water are on their way! They poured half of the driveway yesterday & are finishing it up today - we can drive on it Sunday!

David is going to move some things in on Sunday night (appliances mostly), but we should be living there sometime next week! AHH! I should stop blogging & go pack!

Here are some pics of the updates...

Hannah's Song

We started a tradition with Kate of picking a hymn to be "her song". Our prayer is that for our children is that as they grow the words of the songs will become real & true in their lives and words that they remember easily and trust.

I picked Kate's song (Great is Thy Faithfulness) because it had meant so much to me during the time I was trying to get pregnant. The words were precious as I sang them to her many nights & are often a great reminder as I hold her & sing them over her during times when I'm not sure how to discipline or she needs comfort. It is amazing how she almost instantly gets quiet when I sing it.

In honor of only having a month left, I thought I'd share the song we've chosen for Hannah.

  1. Take My Life

Take my life and let it be
    Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise.
  2. Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
    Swift and beautiful for Thee.
  3. Take my voice and let me sing,
    Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
    Filled with messages from Thee.
  4. Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
    Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.
  5. Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
  6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
    Ever, only, all for Thee.

David chose Hannah's song & I just love what he chose! I already sing it to her often & can't wait to spend those quiet hours in the middle of the night, just us & these words.

A little on the crafty side...

I wanted to do something different above Hannah's crib other than just her name like I did in Kate's room. A friend of mine told me about this great place to buy cheap canvases & I found an idea similar to this one on a website & decided to see if I could make it happen.

I'm sure there's still some touch up to do & of course it's easy to see your own imperfections, but, I think I like them!

Can't wait to hang them up!!

Maternity Pictures

A few weeks ago David took some pictures of me & my belly. :-) I've been delaying posting them because there are a couple of poses we didn't get to do that we wanted to finish up...but alas 3 weeks have passed & we haven't done it, so I just decided to go ahead and post the ones I've got.

It's a little embarrassing to do a post of just pictures of me, but I definitely wanted to show off my man's mad skills! All I did was show him a few different pictures of people online and he took some really great shots.

Is there anything he can't do?

House Update

So many great things are happening at our house these days! I had forgotten to take my camera the last time we went, so by the time we went yesterday so many changes were ready to be photographed!!

Shutters

Fireplace

David designed this, and I love it! It uses the rock & brick from the outside. You can't tell, but the harth is curved on the edges & I like the "different" element it adds
Kitchen

Lots of work done here!

Stained cabinets. We love them! This is something we were NOT happy with in our old house, so we really wanted to get them right this time & we think we did!

Granite - another bonus in this house. Our last house was laminate & I am so looking forward to granite!

Here you can see some of our appliances & hardware too!

Backsplash

Light Fixtures

They're still working on these, but here are the ones that are finished...

Top Left: Living Room
Top Right: Dining & Entry
Middle Left: Master, Middle Right: bedrooms
Bottom: bathrooms

Bathrooms

Light fixtures, tile work, & mirrors!

Here's the bonus/guest room...
And the master...

mirrors - I love them! excited to have framed mirrors instead of the big wall ones we had before. Wonder what I'm going to be in between them?? Any ideas?
Here you can see the light fixtures

Here you can see some of travertine tile work. We're going to have them finish that border out to the end...so that'll look different when it's finished

Paint

We stuck with Latte (the color of our old house) for this house too. We figured we loved it there & weren't tired of it yet - so, Latte it is!

the bonus room

Play Room

The only room we didn't paint Latte is Kate's room. It's pink! It's a soft, strawberry ice cream color - but definitely pink!!!

We're starting to wrap it up! (I hope so since we have less than 6 weeks til Hannah gets here!!)

This week - power, plumbing fixtures, finishing lots - tile, lights, etc.

Just a couple more to go!!
