Kate's Baby Dedication

This past Sunday was a special day for our family. We had Kate's baby dedication at church on Sunday. David and I stood before our church and our families, & made a committment to raise our little girl to love the Lord.

My parents, Cole, Kristin, & Connor all came in from Austin for Kate's special day. We had a great time over the weekend getting to see the cousins together. I really enjoyed getting to play with Connor!! He's getting so big - learning more all the time - and is so fun to play with!

This is the new face Connor makes when you tell him to smile - it is so fun!!!

Connor reading his book - he LOVES books :)

On Sunday, my family, and David's parents and sisters (Angela & Emily), joined us for church and then lunch back at our house. During the dedication, our pastor asked us a few questions about Kate. He asked if the name came from anything special. It doesn't really - we just really liked the name Kathryn "Kate", and of course Elizabeth is my middle name. He also asked us if we could see down the road, into the future what we would hope for Kate. My sweet husband first answered that he hoped she was just like her mom. Most of all though, we agree that we don't care what she chooses as a profession, or what her likes and hobbies are (except that she has to go to A&M...that's not an option), we just pray that she love the Lord & chooses Godly things.
Kate was excited about her dedication!

The many faces of Kathryn Mitchell...

One our favorite things about Kate is that she is so expressive. I love getting to see all the different faces she makes - even the many different smiles.

My mom & dad came to town last night, & brought her 3 month portraits that we had taken in Austin last week with them. She definitely showed off many off her different smiles. I think they are just too adorable for words...but I'm not a biased mom or anything. ;)

This is my favorite

Look at that chunky leg!

I wish I had eyelashes like that!

so sweet

I'm sure she'll hate me for this one later :)

Such a big smile!

Happy 3 Months Kate!

Well, it's been just a little over 3 months...

I went to Austin on Kate's 3 month birthday & meant to get this posted before I left, and well, didn't. Then, I came back last Wednesday and I was on Spring Break (aka did nothing for the rest of the week!).

So, I'm finally getting back in the swing of things.

This month Kate:

-- rolls over more consistently - Daddy finally got to see it!

--smiles even bigger & even more
--had her first trip to the mountains - Poppa & Nana took our family to New Mexico!

--sat in the Bumbo
--talks ALL THE TIME! Mostly when by herself though - on playmat, in the car, in the swing, etc.

--DROOLS! We broke out the bibs this month - no teeth though :)

-- batting at toys while on playmat

--found her hands - and always has them in her mouth

--sleeps 9-10 hours a night

We got Kate's portraits taken while we were in Austin. My mom is bringing them with her this next weekend, so be on the lookout for those next week. They were TOO CUTE!

My family is all coming in this weekend for Kate's baby dedication at church, so I guess that means I should get up from sitting at the computer and go clean house...

She laughed!

In the last couple emails I've gotten telling me different milestones Kate might be meeting, it talked often of the giggles I would be hearing soon...and I couldn't wait! Kate has had this huge smile for the past few weeks that I just new a giggle was going to come out, but it never did. Well, she was saving it for her Nana I guess...

While we were out shopping, I was in another part of the store, and Kate let out her first giggles for Nana (don't worry...she won't let anyone forget she got the first ones! ;).

While we were in the dressing room, I couldn't resist trying to get her to do it again. I just love that little sound!

Warning: This video is filled with even more silly mom sounds than the last!!! And, I can't figure out how to rotate the video...oh well.

In the mean time...

I am working on a post about our recent trip to Angel Fire, NM, but it's taking me awhile. So, in the meantime, I thought I'd put a couple pictures up from mine & Kate's latest photo shoot. Yes, I take LOTS of pictures, but I just can't get enough of her ;)

I am in BIG trouble with this face!

Bath Time

Little girl used to HATE bath time! She would scream throughout most of it, then she transitioned into just screaming when it was time to get out.

Well bath time is officially a happy time in our house these days! She sits and kicks around in the water & even offers a few smiles when it's time to get out!

We've got a talker on our hands...

In the past week or so, Kate has REALLY found her voice. Before now, she would coo back and forth with you if you talked to her, but it has grown quite a bit! Now, the minute we get in the car, she's just talking away. Her other favorite things to talk to are her friends on her playmat. Here's a short example of what I'm talking about!

Even as I type this, she's supposed to be taking a nap, but she's just laying in bed takling to herself! I have a feeling once real words come, I'm going to be getting an earful!

Trying to catch up...

We have had lots of fun with Nana & Poppa lately! About a month ago, they came to town for the weekend to visit Kate, and I decided to take advantage of the baby sitting & plan a night out for David and I.

We started our evening at Daniel & Jenny's wedding shower. After we left, we headed over David's parent's house. It may sound like a strange place to go for a night away - but with the lousy choice of hotels in the area, I decided it was better to have a free place to stay!

When we got there, we watched the movie Fireproof. It definitley had a cheesy factor, but had a great story and some really good reminders! Then, we headed out to the hottub under the stars, followed by some yummy cheesecake. We stayed in the upstairs apartment in the pool house - and had the whole house to ourselves - much better than a stuff hotel!

The whole time Kate had a great time hanging out with Nana & Poppa back at our house. They were great babysitters - and I definitely don't think I had to twist their arms to have some time with her!

Thanks Nana & Poppa!

Happy Birthday David!

I am WAY behind on my blogging of our everyday lives - trip to the mountains, our first night away from Kate, Nana & her friends come to visit, Canton, bath time fun, and so much more to come!

But, today is a big day in our house - it's David's 27th Birthday!

I am so thankful for such an amazing man! David is a wonderful husband - choosing me over himself, loving me, helping around the house, and spoiling me rotten. He is also an amazing Dad - getting involved with the little things (diaper changes, feedings, etc.) from day one, playing with Kate, being excited about her daily activities.

We are so blessed to have him in our lives and hope today is a day he feels extra loved!

David's mom brought me some pictures so I could compare his & Kate's baby pictures & I decided to leave you with some fun pictures of David over the years...

David's birth announcement - isn't it neat how she used a "building" theme & now David is a home builder???

Look at that cute belly!!!

Adorable!

Love it!
