It's coming along!

We added some decorations to Kate's room (finally!). I bought these letters at Hobby Lobby, but had to spray paint them 'cause they only came in gold. I wasn't sure how they would turn out...but I love them.

We also ordered the glider for the room this week - so there should be new pictures of that in about a month! Can't wait!

I'm 29 weeks now - crusing along. Only 11 more weeks! I went to the doctor last week - for the wretched glucose test, which turned out not to be so terrible. It came back normal - so no diabetes for me! What was terrible was the blasted Rogam shot. The things I already do for this child! They're definitely worth it though :) I go to the doctor again on Tuesday for a check up.

My brother & sister-in-law had their baby on June 4th. I can't get enough of him - I hate that I have to live so far away. We hadn't seen him in a month & he had changed so much! His little face is adorable and round - and now he does so many fun things - "talks", smiles, laughs, etc.

Our First Shower

The Fantastic Hostesses (+ me and mom)

We spent this weekend in Austin. We got to visit with my family, see my ADORABLE nephew, eat good food, celebrate my mom's birthday, and have our first baby shower! My mom's friends, my Aunts, & my fantastic sister-in-law obviously spent a lot of time and energy to make me & Kate feel special. At the shower we got to see some people I hadn't seen in awhile, so that was great too. I did not force David to come to the estrogen party - so he watched football with my brother. He came by at the end to help pack up all the gifts & see the women who threw the shower. It was so fun - now I just have to figure out how to organize all these new things!

We have furniture!

Our nursery furniture came in! Our friend Daniel came with us to help move the furniture. When we got back, they got it all out of boxes and in place. While David went back to work, I put the crib together by myself! I was proud. I can't wait to get the room all set up - but this will give you an idea of what the different pieces look like. I tried to get some shots of the different angles of the room - but it's just hard to get without actually seeing it in the room.

We are going to get a glider still, but we wanted to see what size would be best after getting the furniture in the room. It'll take about a month to come in. When we get it, it will go between the crib and the window. Next comes decorating! I can't wait!

25...I mean 26 week appointment

Yesterday, David and I went to the doctor for the 5000th time for a check-up. (yes, he goes to all the appointments...isn't he the best!) She did the standard listening for the heartbeat & measuring my ever-growing belly, but we also got all the results back from our last ultrasound where they had measured all the different anatomy of the baby.

Everything looked great - as they call it "intact" - so another good report for baby Kate. According to their measurements at the time of the ultrasound I was 22 weeks 3 days - which would've put my due date at 12/5. From the due date they had originally given me (somewhere b/t the 12th & 14th) I was only supposed to be 21 weeks 3 days.

Dr. Martin says we'll just go back to the very first due date they ever gave me when I first called and told them I had a positive pregnancy test - December 9th. I asked why we didn't go with the December 5th that the ultrasound had estimated, and she said that at this point, it's probably just that the baby is measuring a little big (WHO'S SURPRISED??) and that's why the date shows a little earlier. So, December 9th it is. She said we won't change it again. I told her I didn't mind the change as long as we were moving backwards :)

I go back to the doctor in two weeks to do the dreaded glucose test. She already gave me my orange drink - yuck! It will also be a lovely appointment because I have to get a Rogam shot. This is because David and I have differing blood types. Mine is negative & his is positive and apparently when it comes to babies, the two don't mix :)

So, all in one appointment I get to drink a yucky drink, get blood drawn, and get a shot. All worth it for this little one, but I think I'll deserve a prize afterwards.

Oh yeah - the baby furniture is in! YIPEE!!! We're supposed to pick it up tomorrow!

Baby's got a name

I thought word had spread, but as I continued to get asked this question I thought it would be appropriate to announce on our baby's blog what our baby's name is. We had a good list of names, but as soon as we found out it was a girl one of our choices just stood out to us...

Kathryn

I remembered David telling me he liked this name long before we ever were expecting a baby. It is also special because it is his maternal grandmother's (who passed away when Judy was young) name. Her's was spelled a little different - but same name :) We love the name, but will probably call her Kate a lot. We don't mind what you choose to call her.

We struggled a little more with a middle name. I never thought so before, but now I'm convinced middle names are strange. It has to be a name you like well enough to give it to your child, but not a name you like so much you might want to use it on another girl (should you have another one). We don't like the "unique" names very much. So, we waded through all the standard nicknames - Nicole, Michelle, Anne, etc. Nothing jumped out. But, since we decided to go with just a generic middle name, we decided that we might as well stick with something that meant something to us.
And so, we have given Kathryn the middle name...

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is my middle name. I always liked it - I liked that it had a Z in it...not that many names do :)

There you have it...our baby has a name.

From blue to pink...

Well, today's project has been painting the nursery. We are converting what used to be the "Music Room" into the baby's new room. The music room was painted a dark blue color, so it's been quite the job painting this pale pink. David's adding a second coat to the edges right now - looks like it's all going to need one more coat - oh well. Next week, our furniture is supposed to be here, so I'll be sure to update a final

picture of all the painting with that.
