37 Week Update

Well, we went in this morning for my 37 week update. That's right...3 weeks to go. So far, Kathryn has dropped down, but my cervix is still closed. So, no baby this week - not that we expected one! We also discussed a few things with the Dr. and she said the latest she will let me go is 1 week overdue - so baby Kate will definitely be here by December 16th.

I think I've officially decided I'm ready for this baby to be here. It's gotten a little harder to sleep, I'm a little more uncomfortable, and my body is wearing out. I know she will come in her perfect time - but we definitely wouldn't mind if it was sooner than later! We are definitley ready to see that sweet face!

Tonight we go to our 3rd week of Childbirth Education classes. They've been ok - a little boring - and real long - but we're glad we've gone just to help refresh our memories on a few things and it helps start some good conversations.

So, as I sit here with this little girl pushing on both my ribs & hip bone at the same time, I'm off to get a bag packed...Dr. Martin says it's time to have that done!

Oh yes...and thanks to Jeanette I've been "tagged". I am supposed to post the 4th picture from the 4th album on my computer...

This is my nephew Connor in his adorable Aggie outfit. I can only hope Kate is as adorable as her cousin!

All right, all ready...

Some people have been asking to see some pictures of this ever-growing belly of mine. When my mom was in last weekend, we took a few pictures (stealing some ideas off of a few websites!). It got dark on us, so we had to move inside, so we plan on taking a few more next time she's here.

Next Tuesday is my last 2 week appointment - after that I start going every week! That means we are getting SUPER close. We are getting really excited to meet her - see what she looks like! We're still doing great. Her movement has definitely gotten a lot stronger - today it felt like her little toes were scraping my side. David said she's already pushing the boundaries. I would guess so if she's anything like her parents!

Church Shower

This past Sunday some sweet friends gave David, Kate & I a really nice baby shower at our church. We got some really cute clothes and some other great "baby necessities"! We were so thankful that they went to the trouble of giving us the shower.

My parents also came to town this weekend. Saturday, Mom & I ran a bunch of errands - including finding things for the nursery - a lamp, curtains, etc. So, we're moving along. I'll post pictures as soon as we get those things hung on the walls.

In other news, I had a doctor's appointment this morning. Everything seems to be the same - great heartbeat, baby's growing great, I'm doing well - just moving along. Only 7 more weeks! Hard to believe she's going to be here soon!

Mixing it up

Sometimes when there's just two of you on vacation, the pictures tend to get a little boring. One of you sits in front of this monument, the other sits with this museum exhibit. So, we decided to mix it up a little.

A Brief Interruption...

A little break from our vacation to show you the new addition to the nursery! My glider came in yesterday & I am so excited to finally have it in Kate's room!!!

We're definitely moving along - now it's just time for the details - curtains, frames, rug, etc.

On another note, I went to the doctor this morning. Only 9 more weeks left!!! Single digits - she'll be here before we know it. The doctor says baby looks great & I'm doing wonderful - so no complaints here (well, maybe a little on the swollen feet - but it's worth it!)

The First Day

We left for DC last Tuesday morning. Our flight was out of Dallas, so we headed over there early in the morning & got to DC around 4. Once we got there, we headed to our hotel - L'Enfant Plaza, then headed out to explore.

We walked through the Smithsonian Castle, rode the Metro to Downtown, then proceeded to WALK. We walked from 12th Street over to the White House on 15th.

Then we walked from there to the Mall and saw the World War II Memorial. From there we began the Marathon to the Lincoln Monument. It was super impressive at with the sun setting and the lights illuminating Mr. Lincoln.

Did I mention at this point we were about 2 miles from our hotel. Did I mention we got up early this morning? Did I mention that I am 30.5 weeks pregnant and our only option was to walk back? It's all true.

So, we began the treck, laughing as we began to see lightining in the distance. Along the way, we saw the Korean Memorial & the Washington Monument.


As we got about half a mile from our hotel....






...it began to rain. We walked under a ledge for a little while, but it finally shoved us out.

We finally reached our hotel room, a little damp, but it was a fun adventure and first few hours in our Nation's Capital.

This past week we have been in Washington DC. We began talking about going to DC a couple years ago, and finally had planned it for this past summer. When I decided to not to go back to work this year, we decided to wait and go to in the fall to avoid the heat. We just got back tonight, and it's back to the real world. I always hate coming back to the real world.





It was a wonderful vacation - full of fun things to see & visit, sleeping late, shopping, eating, ordering dessert after dinner every night, fantastic weather, and did I mention walking???





We walked at least 2 miles (sometimes up to 5 or 6) everyday. It was great, but we were DEAD at the end of the day. This pregnant woman's feet screamed for a hot bath every night. I survived though, and I'm so glad we had the chance to go on our "babymoon" before Kate joins our family.





We had many fun adventures on our trip, but too many to add in one post, so be looking back over the next few days!
