Kate's First Boo-boo

Last night we were over at a friend's house & I had set Kate down on the floor sitting up. Well, when I looked back, she had fallen to her stomach. This happens often, because she's beginning to lean over her legs (like she wants to get on all fours), but she hasn't quite gotten it yet.

Well, she fussed a little, even a little cry, but I went and picked her up and she immediately stopped. No big deal...

A little while later, David was holding her and I saw this...

Kate's first boo-boo. :(
(it's the red mark right under the words...the line in front of it is from her bow band)

It's really no big deal. David even gave me a hard time for taking a picture of it! But, it's the first time my baby's gotten hurt! She's a tough little cookie, though :)

And just to start the morning off right, I thought I'd give you a peek at my view as I look across the table this morning...

Isn't she fantastic ;)

6 Month Stats

Today, Kate and I made the trip to the doctor's office for her well-check. She was even better than usual...just letting out a couple little wimpers for her 3 shots. I was so suprised! Usually she lets us know just how she feels about it!

Here were her stats from the day:
Height: 27 3/4 in (97%)
Weight: 16lbs 6 oz (56%)
HC: 17.25 in (84%)

In other news, I think Kate is moving towards dropping her third nap. I am not so excited about this...but I'm sure it will be fine. This stage has been my favorite - feeding every four hours & 3 2-hour naps. I am sure it will be great when it's regulated again, but the transitions are not easy. Such is life with an infant though!

Sippy Cup Fun

As I mentioned in Kate's 6 month update, Kate has begun to try out the sippy cup. My friend Janette suggested I try out the Munchkin brand, so when I got home from the grocery store, I plopped Kate down in the kitchen to watch me unload & check out her new cup. She loves it!

I just love getting to watch her try new things. She's definitely interested in the cup & the water inside - though I think at this point it's more of a toy than it is actually quenching any thirst. ;)

She does pretty good at holding it after I put it in her hands, but she's still working on grasping things with two hands when she has to do it on her own. And when that doesn't work...well...

...you can't say she's not efficient! ;)

Happy 6 Months Kate!

I just can't believe my baby is half a year old!

This month Kate:

--can sit independently - no need for Mommy to stay close anymore!

--finally broke completely free of the swaddle

--is still a happy, happy little girl :)
--is trying out water in a sippy cup

--loves to eat! So far, she has tried rice & oatmeal cereals, sweet potatoes, bananas, peas, & peaches

--sleeps on her tummy
--gets up on all fours & rocks back and forth

--wants to crawl SO BAD
-- can scoot around by twisting upper body & pushing off with legs when on her tummy

--recognizes her name when we call her

--starting to reach when she wants to be picked up

--cut her two bottom teeth (I think she's working on the top two right now!)

--is very observant - likes to "study" things around her

--can express her dissatisfaction when she doesn't get what she wants (she has learned a new whining noise...not our favorite ;)

This first half of the year has been so fun. We love getting to watch her grow & discover the world around her. I can only imagine that the second half will be even more fun!

I am always talking about how Kate has perfect hair for a mohawk, because it's longer on top than it is on the sides. And, let's be honest...it already sticks up everwhere. I was telling David the other day that if she was a boy, I'd give her one all the time.

Well...we decided it didn't matter that she's a girl, and gave her one anyway :)

still adorable...even with a mohawk

This was the next day...after having slept on it.
I told you her hair is meant to be a mohawk!

What?

Kate's new pool

My parents came to town this weekend (Kate withdrawls). We had a great weekend. Mom, Dad, Kate & I went to Canton on Satuday. It was such a nice day - not near as hot as I thought it was going to be. Kate did great - she loves shopping :).

On Sunday after church, we all went by Target where Kate's Nana & Poppa picked up a couple fun toys for her along with a super fun new pool! It's so fantastic! It's a hippo that inflates & has shade - so great for this baby's fair skin.

When we got home from Target, we definitely had to give it a try! At first, Kate just kind of sat there, and I wasn't sure she was going to know how to play in it. But, after about 5 minutes, she definitley figured it out...
