2 Month Portraits

I took Kate to have her picture made on her 2 month birthday :). The pictures finally came in last week while we were on vacation (more on that soon!). They were too cute. I had intended to have her picture made in her ADORABLE Christmas onesie from Nana (found in Canton!) before now, but hadn't, so that's why she's in Christmas clothes in some of them.

Of course they sucker you when you walk up to pay...I had been so good and only spent 20 dollars when I ordered pictures. Today, when I got there, they had developed more of the prints & said I could get all of them for just 20 more. Well, of course it was a great deal...and I happened to have 20 bucks in my pocket. Next time, I make sure that I don't have money with me!

♥ Happy Valentine's Day ♥

We had such a fun Valentine's weekend! On Friday David took his girls out for a special date. We went to Fritz's (a local Italian food restraunt) for dinner. When we got there though, we learned that they don't have the proper ventilation system for smokers, so no one under 18 is allowed in...so we headed to Johnny Carino's for a yummy dinner.

Daddy & Kate ready for their date

After dinner we stopped by Lowe's to pick up a fire pit with Christmas money (thanks Grandmommy!), because David had planned for us to make a fire on the back porch & have s'mores for dessert (yum!!).

gettin' that last little bit of s'mores!

It was a very fun date!

On Saturday, we met Drew & Jennie Coleman for a Valentine's Day breakfast at The Ranch - so yummy & fun! We spent the rest of the day relaxing, then had dessert over at David's parent's house in the evening.

Part of mine & Kate's fun were a few photo shoots - which I had a hard time picking from - so enjoy some cute pictures of the little girl :)

Happy 2 Months Kate!

Can you believe she's already 2 months old??? This month went so much faster than the first!

Things Kate learned to do this month:

- roll over (make sure you watch the video in the previous post if you haven't!)
- hold up her head even higher & longer!

- even more responsive smiling

- pull up in a sitting position while in your lap

- new sounds: "yelling" out, multiple vowel sounds strung together

- the start of a laugh (just this week!) it's such a funny little sound

- drool & blow bubbles - lots and lots of spit coming out of this kid's mouth! teething will be so fun :/

- found her tounge & her lips. She's constantly sticking out her tounge & sucking on her lips.

- sleeping through the night! YIPEE! Kate started doing this in Austin when she was about 6 1/2 weeks old. She's had a few nights of getting up since then (thanks to a growth spurt we think), but just for a pacifier. No more middle of the night feedings!!!

She continues to look more and more like her daddy! Everywhere I go, I hear how much she is a "little David". She's still a long and lean little girl - definitely a surprise to everyone around her. We expected her to be a little rolly polly by now - but we're loving her skinny little body :)

On Monday, we go in for her 2 month check-up, where she'll receive her first shots (ouch!). Stay tuned for new stats!

Oops!

After feeding Kate today I put her in her swing to hang out while I got a grocery list together so we could head to the grocery store. While I was moving around in the kitchen, she started yelling out. This is her new thing when she's annoyed/tired of doing whatever it is she's doing - she doesn't actually cry or fuss if you respond to it. Well, I just assumed she was tired of being in the swing, so while I continued about my business of getting a list together, I just kept calling out to her "okay" and "We're leaving soon, then you can get out." and things like that.

Well, when I finally went to get her out of the swing, this is what I found!

Oops!

and yes...I did stop to take a picture of it before fixing it for her. I just thought it was too funny!

Can't believe I caught this one...

Last Tuesday, I had Kate on the floor getting some much needed "tummy-time". She was holding up her head so well, I wanted to get some video of her.

I am so glad I did...because look what happened!

*Disclaimer - apparently becoming a mom makes you sound RIDICULOUS on video*

Can you believe it???

Our last stop...

On Saturday, Kate, my Mom, & I woke up early and headed to Dallas/Fort Worth. On our way to the air port, we stopped by my Dad's parents for Kate to meet my Dad's family. There, she got to meet her great grand parents - Nannie & Papa (my Dad's parents), both of her great-aunts - Debra & Leigh Anne (my dad's sisters), her great-uncle - Bill (Debra's husband), and my cousins - Lindsay & Jacob. She was great as usual, smiling for everyone, but by the end of the trip was tired - and ready to see her Daddy!

An attempt to get a picture of the 3 of us - somehow we still haven't gotten a good one!

This was at the end when Kate had had enough!

We left from there and headed over to DFW airport to pick up David, and have my mom meet up with my dad. Mom and Dad flew back to Austin, & our little family made a quick pitstop at Freebirds (we can't go to Dallas without it!), then headed home.

It was such a fun trip - and I was so thankful for how well Kate traveled and adapted to all the changes in schedule!

Nana & Poppa are coming to visit this weekend - and Kate can't wait to see them!

Come Meet Baby Kate!

While I was in Austin, my mom hosted a "Come Meet Baby Kate" party. It would've been impossible for us to get around to everyone, so was really nice to be able to stay home and have everyone come meet her! We had about 25 visitors, & of course all of them thought she was fantastic.

There were a few people who weren't able to make it to the party, but still wanted to meet Kate, so we met up with them throughout the week.

Susan Cox & Liz Wilson came over to Cole & Kristin's to meet Kate on Wednesday.

Pop & Saundra - my mom's Dad & his wife
Kristin & Connor joined us on Friday afternoon to visit.

On Friday night, we stopped by Grandmommy's to say goodbye, and Betty stopped by with Richard & Cara.
