Bethany's Baby Shower

This weekend, I got the chance to host a baby shower for one of my best friends, Bethany.  Baby Jordan is going to be here soon and we had such a fun time getting to celebrate them.  To change things up a little bit, I suggested to the other hostesses that we do a cookies & milk shower.  I had seen lots of ideas online & this seemed like a good change of pace.  Everything turned out great & was so easy to pull together!

Lake o' the Pines

We were so excited with the Roszharts called and told invited us to go camping with them!  I LOVE to camp, we hadn't been on the lake since college, and we looked forward to time with friends!  It worked out perfectly that my mom was already planning to come visit the next week, so she & my dad just came up a day early to keep the girls!  We are SO SO grateful to have grandparents who love our girls & are willing to sacrifice to give us time together!

The adorable Rectors

The bummer of the trip was that Bethany wasn't able to make it :(  They fly standby since Nate is a pilot & all of the flights ended up full.  :(

6 years since being on a boat - he makes it look to easy

Samantha was AMAZING!  She hadn't done any water sports - EVER.  She got up the first time she tried everything.  I want to be like her.

We tried something new too - water surfing.  You get up about 15 feet behind the boat, pull yourself right up behind it in the wake & let go of the rope!  The wake just pushes you along behind the boat!  Incredible!

David's hands by the end of the weekend
We had so much fun.  I was proud that 6 years & 2 babies later I could still water ski & wake board and learned the wake surfing & got up on the slalom! I still go it ;)

Happy 6 Months, Hannah

 Now that Hannah's 6 Months...

--weighs 16lbs  ??

--  inches??

--sits completely independently - can be left alone even on hard floors without falling

-- FINALLY made it to a 4-hour feeding schedule - 8,12, 4, 8

--introduced rice cereal - 1 time a day

--cut her 2nd tooth - bottom right within a week of the first one

-- gets up on all fours and rocks

--army crawling everywhere!  This was a new one in our house - Kate didn't ever do it

--clothes: 3-6 months.  Some 6-9.  Size 3 diaper

--doesn't travel great.  will sleep some - but mostly just 30 -45 minutes at a time.  I think we were spoiled with Kate who would sleep most of the 5 hours to Austin!  She's not unpleasant while traveling - just doesn't sleep well!

--happiest when people are around & she is being paid attention

--recognizes her name when we call her

--makes the 'ma' & 'da' sounds - mama & dada not too far away for us now!

Sea World

Earlier this year, my mom got an email that Sea World was giving free season passes for 2011 to certified teachers!  So, since the kids are still free under 2, we quickly jumped on that deal!

Our first trip we invited my sister-in-law (who also was a teacher) & her mom and my nephews to join us.  IT WAS SO HOT - but everyone was had a great time anyway!

Kate was a little nervous going into any of the shows (I think it was all the new people - and they were loud), but quickly warmed up.

HOT kids
They had a new area called "Bay of Play" that the kids loved.  It had a huge splash pad...

...and a carousel that I think we rode 50 times.

Hannah was a trooper & slept great in her stroller even though it was so hot!

Our first Sea World trip was a hit & we plan on getting the most out of our free year!
